I HAVE ANNNOUNCEMENT TO MAKE

After nearly four weeks of fighting a cold, first a chest cold then a head cold, then just an all out i feel like crap cold I have finally kicked it! I woke up this morning and took a deep breath...THROUGH MY NOSE!

No this isn't news worthy, probably not even blog worthy but it's Friday and it's the biggest thing that's happened to me today so you get to read about it here. Besides, what else would you be reading - The Drudgereport?!

The weekend.....

Hope everyone has a happy weekend. If you stay sober then good on you...if you get loaded, don't do an interview with a morning talk show in a major US city.

(If the sound doesn't work on this, click anywhere on the video and watch it from the YouTube site, some people have been having trouble hearing the audio)

Paula Abdul is clearly wasted in this interview, and the woman says "good morning Paula Abdul" so the absolute latest it could be in New York is 2:00PM, but come on, it's a lot more likely that it isn't even 10AM yet. Ah Paula, you know what...good on you as well!

Club 33 & The Hidden Mickey's

If you've ever been to DisneyWorld or DisneyLand you might have heard about the "hidden Mickeys" that exist throughout all of the parks. Apparently, Walt Disney, while building the park embedded hidden icons of his most famous icon though out the park. Hundreds of them exist all over and some people go to the park solely to search for these hidden Mickeys.

http://www.hiddenmickeys.org/HiddenMickey.html

In addition to the Hidden Mickeys, there is also supposedly a restaurant/club that is very fancy, serves alcohol and is located right in the park hidden from view. It is supposed to be impossible to get into and there only for dignitaries, big time celebrities, and other VIP's.

Here is the part where I would tell you that I got in, that I went there and had a five star meal while wearing my Goofy t-shirt and flip-flops. I'd love to tell you that, but instead I only have a webpage that takes you there. Maybe someday I'll be able to tell you what it's like to look down on the streets of "New Orleans Town" in DisneyLand with an alcoholic drink in my hand (alcohol isn't served anywhere else in DisneyLand) but until that day comes take a look at this.

Job hunting already Condi?

The White House took someone from Fox News to be their Press Secretary, and now it looks like our Secretary of State would like to go work for Fox News...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice let slip her news media preferences Thursday, saying, "I love every single one" of Fox News network's correspondents and also favors CBS anchor Harry Smith.

In comments overheard on an open microphone between morning television interviews, including one with Fox, the top U.S. diplomat said: "My Fox guys, I love every single one of them."

But Rice told an aide that when she was next in Iraq she would like to do a "one-on-one" interview with CBS "The Early Show" anchor Harry Smith.

"He's a decent guy. I know they are, like, 55 in the ratings, but I like him," Rice said in comments monitored by Reuters on a television feed.

Here's the link

This actually might be a really smart move on her part, when she's fired for her part in completely botching the debacle in Iraq she can just go work for Fox News and continue their trend of defending idiots in charge of the country.

What's the top news story of the day?

According to:

CNN.com -Bush takes new Iraq plan to the troops

NYTimes.com -White House Pushes Hard on Iraq Plan

Agence France -Barrage of criticism for Bush Iraq plan

Reuters -Iraq plan questioned

FOXNews.com - Beckhams in La-La Land

DrudgeReport - Adios! David Beckham Signs With U.S. Team...

Funny...seems the last two don't really want to talk about Iraq at the moment, even though the President just gave a big speech about it. Hmm......

True Hollywood Conversation

These are parts of the other side of conversations that I had today with friends of mine:

#1.
ML: And then George (Clooney) picks up the phone takes a call from Bono just 5 feet from my desk - jerk.

#2.
JE: I am on the plane to London and Jane Seymore just sat next to me...Can I ask her what it was like to sleep with Sully?

If I didn't live here, I wouldn't believe this place is real.

The Increidble Homeward Bound Journey

Hastings, MN
January 6th, 2007

We've seen the stories fall on the silver screen or even dance across our television sets: family pet takes a trip with the family, is accidentally left behind by said family, then the music swells, maybe there's a celebrity voice maybe not, the dog or cat starts walking following its instincts "Homeward Bound" on an "Incredible Journey."

This isn't that story, or at least not exactly. This past Saturday in a small town just south of St. Paul, MN a small black cat that had been written off for gone walked up to the back door after a two and a half month long absence. "I thought I was looking at a ghost," Jennifer Eddy told us. Not believing her own eyes she looked to her father to confirm what they were looking at and sure enough it was Ziggy.

Ziggy "Bitch Kitty"Eddy wandered her way into the Eddy household nearly a decade ago after having been left by the side of the road. Picked out of the litter by the youngest Eddy child, Steven, Ziggy became a part of the ever growing list of rescued animals that found their way into the Eddy house. "The rest were just sitting there, but this little black one was terrorizing all the others. Of course I picked her," Steven told us. "There was a docile little white one that my mom wanted, but I said we already have a nice white cat, we need one that would shake things up a bit."

Then, just under three months ago in the midst of an unusually warm Minnesota autumn, Ziggy went outside one night and didn't come back. Days past giving way to weeks and eventually months, and no one thought they would see Ziggy again. Don, the only Eddy that still resides at the family house in Hastings, admitted he missed the little black cat but had also gotten comfortable with the idea of only having to look after the one remaining cat, Willie ( a tom cat who was also a stray.) We caught Mr. Eddy before he began his 2007 International XC Ski Tour and when asked what he thought about the cat that wandered back into his life he said, "you mean I have two cats again?"

Disbelief is the only thing that is over powering the happiness felt by the Eddy's for the return of their little black cat, and while only Ziggy knows where she went, why she left and why she eventually came back, it must have been an Incredible Journey.

NorthWorst Airlines

I was walking through LAX on my way to catch my flight home on NWA for the holidays when I saw this. I stopped, laughed out loud and took a picture.

God I hate NorthWest.

Is it hot in here or is it just the polar bears?

2006 Breaks U.S. Temperature Record

(CBS/AP) Last year was the warmest on record for the United States, with readings pushed over higher than normal by the unusual and unseasonably warm weather during the last half of December.

Preliminary data from the National Climatic Data Center listed the average temperature for the 48 contiguous states last year as 55 degrees Fahrenheit. That's 2.2 degrees warmer than average and 0.07 degree warmer than 1998, the previous warmest year on record.

Bush lifts Alaska oil, gas drilling ban

President Bush lifted the drilling ban Tuesday for Alaska's Bristol Bay, clearing the way for the Interior Department to open the fish-rich waters to oil and natural gas development.

Alaska officials as well as local communities had asked for the ban to be lifted, but environmentalists have warned against drilling in the bay, which is also a major fishing area for salmon, crab and cod.
