Homecoming Day in Hastings,MN

and today is my 28th birthday...

My favorite random birthday greeting of the day - the Laphroaig Scotch distillery sent me an e-mail wishing me happy birthday and offering me 10% off their story for today only. Yahoo wished me happy birthday, as did the director of Spinal Tap. Only 1 e-card that came in the form of a fortune cookie, several e-mails (some sincere some because Outlook reminded them - hey i'm guilty of it too.) This year was the birthday of the MySpace comment post. It's like giving a card at a party and making sure they open it while everyone is there, that way everyone can see how creative you are, and also that you remembered.

I've haven't been able to put my phone down much of the day. Sister sent a text from Berlin, other sister in NYC from Morocco called and i'm sure i'll hear from the last / first sister who is actually in California. Speaking of CA, got a call from the recently married on a honeymoon with a stop at the ballpark. Spoke with both Floms, my father and my roommate. Gus told me he loved me, and both Reddy's sent their best - all from Boston.

We had office margaritas instead of cake - no place to put a candle but just as tasty. A party downtown tonight - a football tailgating afternoon in Pasadena tomorrow.

Many well wishes, though one less than previous years. Twenty eight years walking this planet. A dozen plus countries have passed under my feet, more than half the 50 states. Stood on ground 4 miles above the sea, and then swam in the same sea (2 of the seven that is.) I've seen my name on the big screen and heard it over the loud speaker. I've worn two dozen tuxes though never been the groom, and been named an uncle 4 times over, and lost several people who were close to me in the past 28 years...

what will the next 28 hold?

...the adventure continues...
