Coked out "Man of the Year"

i was sitting in my car on the drive to work this morning and right after i passed the "ibiza tan salon" a bus pulled up next to me, and on the side was an advertisement for the new Robin William's movie "Man of the Year."

Robin Williams has unfortunately gone the way of Chevy Chase in my book. His hay days are over, he has tried to go serious (thankfully something Chase never did) and now he's resorted back to the comedic schtick that got him to the top back in the day. The only problem is that it's not funny anymore. Either the times changed, the perception of what's funny changed, or he just lost his touch but he's just not Robin Williams the way he used to be Robin Williams.

However, i will pay money to see Man of the Year and i'm going to tell you why. Because Robin just checked himself into rehab. That's right, he fell back into his old habits and was back on the powder. Now this is a terrible addiction and i'm glad he's getting help, but there is also a part of me that is doing the math and figures that while they were shooting this movie, he was probably high as a kite and flying at about three hundred miles per hour. Sadly, that makes Robin Williams funny, or at least it used to. It's too bad, but just light a light bulb has to be turned on in order to serve a purpose, Robin has to be hopped up on pixie dust. And just like a light bulb will eventually burn out, so too would Robin had he not headed off to rehab.

I don't know why Robin fell back into his old habits. Was it a tough time, a simple slip, or did some friend or friends push him in that direction. Really doesn't matter. However, if Man of the Year turns out to be funny, and makes a lot of money, projects like this will begin to roll in for Mr. Williams and that could kill him. Just like Dave Chapel is responsible for killing Rick James (seperate blog entry i assure you) this movie could be responsible for killing Robin Williams - and i'm going to pay money to see it.
