The 2nd Trailer Season - 2004/2005 Something became completely clear to me after the 2nd Eddypolusa was in the books, people loved the trailers and wanted more. Starved for creative outlet I was more than happy to oblige them and this time, I had real live footage to use (and abuse) for these trailers, and it didn't take long for me to get started. This year also brought the first offerings from The ECC. However, I leave their stories about their trailers to them. For now, on with trailer season 2.
"First Night - Teaser" Not wanting to waste any time, I sat down with the footage I had from EP2 and went to work. I knew it had to be quick, and I wanted it to make a spash to get the ball rolling. I picked the song first, "Slow Descent into Alcoholism" by The New Pornographers, and worked from there. Compiled from footage all shot on the first night, the trailer simply fell together as a collection of quick edits and flashes of general drunken debauchory.
"Sieben's Trip" Anyone that knows Dan Sieben, knows that he tends to be a bit impulsive. Long story short, at the time of EP2 Dan found himself in the middle of two jobs, in another state with attendance on Burbon Beach looking near impossible. However, as this trailer shows, Sieben found a way. A timeless story accompanied by The Band's "The Weight" - Dan proves once and for all that there is no reason for anyone to ever miss an Eddypolusa.
"STUPID THINGS SERIES- ASS, BIKE, & HENDRIKSON" These were fun, honestly, these were just fun to do. The brilliant ad's that were originally done for Vontage telephone service was mocked up in these parodies. There really isn't much to explain with these, they really just speak for themselves.
"Magical? - The lost Official Invite The trailer season was drawing to close and I still didn't have a final trailer, an official invite. I started putting things together but nothing really felt right. I settled on "City of Blinding Lights" by U2 as the song and when it was finished I was happy with it. I really love TomO's monolouge that was used at the start, and used that as the key for the entire trailer theme. I finished it and put it on the shelf to use it when the time was right. However, it was never used and was seen for the first time on the beach at EP3.
"FIX YOU - THE OFFICIAL INVITE" I don't remember exactly what the date was, but it was the Tuesday that the Coldplay album came out. Borrowed from a friend in the office I was working in at the time, I first heard the song "Fix You." Later that night, this trailer was finished. It was the song I had been looking for, the feeling I had wanted to convey in this offiical invite trailer. Using much of what had already been assembled for the Magicial trailer, I changed it around a bit and the result became Eddypolusa magic. Sometimes things just work, and this was one of those times.
